Sessions take place at Jubilee Hall and the McNulty Hall  Science & Technology Center at Seton Hall University —

Noon | Counter/Narrative

Fighting for instead of fighting against. Calling in instead of calling out. Using the applied and devised theater tools from her classroom at Seton Hall, Angela Kariotis will lead SouthNEXT participants in a series of exercises intended to build community, guide urgent conversation, and in the face of seemingly overwhelming current events, encourage a vision that allows for collective joy as the greatest act of resistance.  We instead of I.
  • Angela Kariotis recently completed Walking the Beat, an 8 week theater and social justice workshop challenging implicit bias and fostering positive interactions between committed LAPD law enforcement and students throughout the Hollywood school district. The program was in partnership between Los Angeles Police Department, Elizabeth Youth Theater Ensemble and the Fountain Theatre. Kariotis was given a 2018 Award of Excellence for Arts Education from the New Jersey Theater Alliance. Integrating Social Emotional learning and restorative circles into her practice, she teaches for the communication program within Seton Hall’s College of Communication and the Arts.
